Ballerina Theme Party
Nothing is more "girly" than a ballerina
theme party, and planning the party is as much fun for the mother as for her
daughter. Even the tiniest girls will enjoy dressing in a tutu and being
a ballerina for a day For toddlers, dressing up and decorating
with pink or purple balloons is usually all that is necessary to make the
party a success. Older girls often have very specific ideas of
what the party should include, so make sure you know exactly
what the guest of honor expects. The most elaborate party can be
disappointing if you aren't aware that the birthday girl has
envisioned dancing to a particular song, or assumes a photo will be taken
while she is bowing! To create a ballet atmosphere, encourage each guest
to come dressed as a ballerina. Girls that don't have a
leotard or tutu, can have fun coming up with their own costume. To
complete their dance attire, provide each guest with a tiara as she arrives. Traditional
party games can be adapted to ballet and dance themes, but you may wish to
plan a special activity. Most gyms and dancing schools have a teacher
available to teach the basic ballet positions, but if there is an older dancer
that your daughter admires, she may be a better choice than a professional.
Our favorite ballerina theme parties include
learning a simple dance and then performing it for the adults. A pink bag
filled with glittery powder, inexpensive hair clips, etc. can be used to get
ready for the big show, then taken home as a party favor. As a safety
precaution, check with the parents to make sure no one is allergic to perfumed
lotions or other makeup. Be sure to video tape the performance so
girls can enjoy watching it later and the more photos the better! After
the performance, present each ballerina with a rose. Silk roses can be
kept as a memento of the party, but if you decide on a real roses, be sure to
remove thorns.

gifts related to your party theme. If your daughter is already a dancer, you
have a list of dance items she is wishing for. If your

be the perfect birthday present!
